Ok, lets start when I first became obsessed with HP. This was about 4~5 years ago. I started reading the first chapter of SS, till one day Pop needed something to read and asked us if we had anything. I gave him the book and he started reading it out of curiosity, after about 2 or 3 hours (he was a little more than halfway through it) he started telling us about it. Me being who I am and doing anything that he does from reading the same books to riding the scariest roller coasters (and it’s understood we ride in the front of every roller coaster that is in the park at the time), started reading them with more interest. (Ma started later). Pop was always at least 1 book ahead of me, Ma was always at least 1 book behind me. Megan aka DeesKid never read the books, and Jarod was too young.
:ninja:

I’m an A+ student in the 7 grade. I happen to love riddles and fantasy books. I’m currently reading a book called “The Eye Of The World”, and yes its a series my Pop reads.

Of course, this is far in the future for me, but has anyone had the weird urge to name their future/current children names like Nefertiti, Pandora, Athena, or Socrates??? I don’t know why, but most modern names just don’t feel the same anymore. I think Harry Potter did it to me. :(
Why JK WHY???

Okay okay, new fanfiction idea!

Okay, get this.

I wanted to do a fanfiction that would:

1. show more of the wizarding world

2. explore exactly what happens when someone dies. (Try to explain the mysteries of the veil, the resurrection stone, etc)

3. wanted a kick-butt character who would be a sort of wizarding equivalent of Jason Borne (okay, maybe not that good, lol)

Now, I need a name for the main character, and I can’t quite give him a good enough name.

Here is an overview of his character so far:

1.He seeks the secrets of death, studies it, and has hence a incredible facination with anything to do with death. This is a man who visits veils around the world like Harry Potter fans revist their favorite books.

2.Although he’s got lots of knowledge, but he is still rather naive and ignorant about things. Sort of like a scholar who goes out into the ‘real world’ for the first time.

3.In relation to the point above, I see him as a Faust-sort-of-character. Yes, that means this story will be a little tragic…

4.He picks up two companions in Latin America, a young woman and her younger brother, who often seem somewhat wiser than the main character himself. These two, espescially the woman, share the limelight with ____, and the woman in particular is supposed to come off as the stronger character of the two (her and ____) It is through coming into contact with them that ___ gets involved with a South American dark wizard who has been raising an army of inferi and terrorizing muggles and magical people alike.

5.Okay, that last point wasn’t really about him, and neither is this one, but whatever.

Okay...I need a good character name for this guy. Any ideas?

COS Forums is hacked!

Merlin’s pants! Some Death Eaters went and hacked our beloved COS forums! Unless you find a ‘cached’ page on Google, you go straight to g00n-a hacker site. I was terribly upset when I found that...there are times when we really need a hug from Fred and George...or at least a good upping of our mood. And I thought Fred’s death was bad enough…

But the tigers come at night,
With their voices soft as thunder
As they tear your hope apart,
As they turn your dreams to shame!

I find that bit of “I Dreamed a Dreamed” from Les Miserables very fitting for this event. :(

LATER: Now I get a ‘cannot be found’ error.

EVEN LATER: No, everything’s alright, yes everything’s fine, now.

Back to Malfoy Manor (a possible chapter wrote on inspiration)

I wrote this on a spurt of inspiration just in the past couple of hours. Tell me what you guys think. I certainly enjoyed writing it.

Harry pulled the door bell as he stood on the threshold of Malfoy mansion. He shivered as the chime reverberated through the grounds, making an eerie sound. It was a sad, wailing sound that made Harry think of loneliness and heartache.

Indeed, Harry hadn’t been to Malfoy manor since the Second War, when he, Ron, and Hermione had been captured after Harry’s own foolish mistake. They had just barely escaped with their lives, thanks to a timely arrival by Dobby. Harry’s mind was dwelling on the house-elf, remembering for a moment how much he missed the silly creature, when the large door to Malfoy manor made a click and cracked open, allowing a soft candlelight to dance out into the bitter cold night.

“What do I owe this…honor?” drawled Malfoy in his usual tone, a mix of surprise and disappointment flickering across his face for a moment, only to be replaced with his usual sneer.

“Draco, I have a favor to ask, can I come in?”
Malfoy stood in the doorway for a moment, looking at Harry as if determining whether or not he was serious.

“Please, Draco.”

“The wonder-boy Potter is digging really low now,” scathed Malfoy, “coming to ask help from a poor, hapless soul like me?”

“Don’t flatter yourself, Draco,” said Harry coolly, “I’m not here to ask for your help.”

Draco Malfoy gave Harry a look of utter resentment, which Harry obligingly returned, but none-the-less undid the chain lock and upon opening the door, stood back to allow Harry’s entry.

“Thank you,” said Harry, truly grateful to leave the freezing air outside.

“The lounge is this way,” replied Malfoy, “No thinking involved Potter, just follow me.”

Harry followed Malfoy through the mansion, pausing only to glance at the spot where he and the others had disapparated with Dobby’s help all those years ago. Malfoy noticed that Harry had stopped and turned around, looking at Harry though his cold gray eyes.

“Come now,” said Draco, and Harry briefly sensed that all malice had gone from Malfoy’s voice. He looked at Draco, but the Slytherin had already turned and resumed his previous course. Harry glanced back at the room, looking up at the chandelier, and then trotted after Malfoy.

The two wizards entered a small, comfortable lounge, complete with it’s own private library of volumes, which Harry expected to be mostly about dark magic. The room was lit by firelight, and the shadows of the new arrivals danced across the walls. Draco pointed to one of the comfy chairs in front of the fire-place, and then strode to a desk in the corner of the room, picked up a piece of paper, pointed his wand at it, and muttered a spell. The paper immediately folded itself into a shape resembling a swan, which subsequently took flight across the room, pausing only to drop an ink pellet on Harry’s nose, before exiting through the door from whence they had entered.

“So…” began Harry awkwardly, conjuring a hanker chief to wipe off his nose, “How have you been?”

“You don’t need to amuse me Potter,” Draco said, “Neither of us have any interest in each other’s lives. Why are you here?”

“Okay then,” said Harry, a little taken aback, but relieved to get on with the conversation.

“I presume you know about the suspect in…the Granger case?” said Harry. He could feel his insides burning with pain. Granger case…is that what it had become now?

“Yes,” said Malfoy, the sarcasm rising in his voice, “I also know how my office was trashed by a search and seizure warrant. Oh, I know all about his murder, Potter.”

“I didn’t order that,” said Harry loudly, “That was an unauthorized search that I condemned. The perpetrator, whoever they are, will be punished…”

“Oh yes, yes. A nice slap on the hand and three pats on the back, I presume. You disgust me, Potter.”

Harry could feel his temperature rising, but he couldn’t start a fight with Malfoy now. He needed to keep Malfoy in a good mood, if that’s what it was, so he swallowed his anger and continued where he left off.

“Anyway, they’ve arrested Ron.”

“They?”

“The Auror department.”

“That surprises me, Potter. I was under the delusion that the department was under your control.”

“It is,” replied Harry, “The minister stepped in, and said that my emotions were affecting my judgment. I had no choice in the matter.”

Draco Malfoy said nothing, but watched Harry closely with his cold grey eyes. Harry was under the suspicion that Draco had just put two-and-two together on why Harry was visiting his house on this cold, November night.

“He’s going to stay in Azkaban till his trial later this month. If he’s found guilty, he’s going to spend a minimum of five years in there…”

“She’s not going to help you,” said Draco mercilessly.

“But I need him, I know that he…I know that there’s more to this case. Ron would never had murdered him, Draco, never. He’s not that kind of person.”

“She won’t help you,” Draco continued, “and nothing I’m going to say is going to change that. You’re wasting your time as well as mine…”

Furious, Harry made to rise out of his seat, but just then the door to the lounge opened, and a beautiful woman had entered, affectionately stroking the origami swan, which had settled itself on her shoulder. Her eyes were bright and flashing, contrasting hard with her husband’s cold gray ones. She had sleek, ebony-black hair tied back in a knot, complemented by a thin black silk robe that Harry thought would be a little too provocative to wear in public. She strode across the room, ignoring Harry, and wrapped her arms around Draco, kissing him on the cheek.

“How now, my love?” Callista Malfoy purred in his ear.

Draco Malfoy nodded rigidly in Harry’s direction.

“Good evening, Mrs. Malfoy,” replied Harry when Callista turned to look at him.

“What is he doing here?” she whispered in Draco’s ear, “What’s he want?”

“I’ve come,” said Harry fairly loudly, “to ask for your help, Callista.”

Callista was silent, staring alternatively at Harry and Draco.

“Mr. Potter, I don’t think that I can help you on any such matter. I appreciate what you do for the ministry, and you have my sympathies regarding your friend’s death, but I’m sorry to say that you are not welcomed in this household. Please leave.”

“I think,” said Draco, a little awkwardly, “you should listen to his proposition.”

Callista gave Draco a furious look and then rounded on Harry.

“What do you want, then?”

“Ronald Bilius Weasley was arrested just hours ago, for the murder of…”

“I am familiar with the case, and the evidence is damning, Mr. Potter, damning. I was sent an owl just a short while ago, informing me of the case and asking if I would prosecute him.”

Harry felt his heart drop.

“Would you know, the case was such a slam dunk, I declined, saying that one of the younger lawyers could do just as well.”

Harry jumped to his feet, unable to contain himself any longer.

“Mrs. Malfoy, you have to consider what I’m saying! I need you to defend Ron, to keep him with the Aurors. I know the evidence against him, Callista! But there is more going on then meets the eye! Don’t you see? The assassin could have never gotten that close to Hermione without inside help!

Callista Malfoy glared at Harry through the flickering fire light. The shadows, dark and fleeting, danced across her pretty face, which now replaced it’s traditional severity with a look of curiosity.

“Are you saying that it was a cover-up? That a traitor is behind the assassination?”

Harry nodded.

Callista seemed to consider the thought, twisting her index finger through her hair, but then rounded on Harry again.

“They’re all saying it was the purebloods, Mr. Potter, they are chanting against us in the streets! I am humiliated when I go to work, when I work, when I shop!” Mrs. Malfoy’s voice was somewhat frantic now. “Yesterday I was chased by oozing spitballs from my office, Mr. Potter!”

“Mrs. Malfoy, that’s why I need you to defend Mr. Weasley! We have suspicions that the pureblooded movement wasn’t behind the assassination…You can prove that to the world, when the day comes! But I need Ron by my side, he was there, he knows what happened, I need him as a agent and friend on the Granger case!”

Neither of the Malfoys said nothing. Harry took a few breaths and continued:

“You are the only one who can get him off, Mrs. Malfoy. I know that.”

Callista stared at Harry for some time, and in the silence the cackling of the wood in the fireplace filled the room.

“No, no. I will not defend the blood-traitor! Do you know what my colleagues will think of me? Do you know what will happen to my career? I-will-not-further-a-cause-of-my-enemies!” Callista said, rather hysterically. “You have always been sympathetic to their kind! Lies corrupt your every word Potter!”

Harry’s anger and fustration had been building up all night, and he opened his mouth to shout back at her, but found his words caught in his throat, and the familiar tingle of magic creeping down his spine.

“Could I have a moment with you, Callista?” said Draco. Callista Malfoy nodded and followed Draco out of the room. In the next few minutes, Harry paced back and forth in the lounge, suddenly hating it’s every feature, it’s green carpet, the gold-trimmed furniture, everything. The little origami swan fluttered around his head, and Harry made a grab for it, crushing it in his hand.

The door suddenly opened and Draco Malfoy, master of Malfoy mansion, stood on the threshold.

“She has accepted the case Potter. She expects to meet you tomorrow at five to discuss the case in greater detail.”

Harry stood in shock.

“She…what? You’re joking, Draco.”

Draco sneered at him.

“I, I can’t…” Harry looked at Draco, searching for understanding in Draco‘s face. “Thank you.”

“Don’t thank me. It wasn’t my help you came for tonight, now was it? Now get out of my house, before St. Mungo’s carries you out in pieces.”

Less then a minute later, Harry was walking through the gate of Malfoy Mansion, not bothering to look back at the old gargantuan structure. She had accepted. He couldn’t believe it. So many things were swirling around his head at the moment that he had forgotten that his fist was still clenched around the origami swan. He open his hand, saw the broken swan twitch, and unfolded the crumpled paper. On it was a short sentence printed in elegant and thin handwriting.

You’re welcome.

Okies I have been thinking instead of creating new currency we could use pre-decimal uk coinage?

4 farthings = 1 penny (1d)
2 ha’pence = 1 penny (1d)
3 pence = 1 thruppence (3d)
6 pence = 1 sixpence (6d)
12 pence = 1 shilling (1s)
2 shillings = 1 florin (2s)
2 shillings and 6 pence = 1 half crown (2s 6d)
1 Guinea= 21 shillings

What do you think?
