Here is a place where our wonderful SVS’ers can post things like broken links to problems and so on…

Please check http://scrivenshafts.net/index.php/forums/viewannounce/31_6/ our issues announcement for issues currently being processed before posting in here.  Please be aware we will be keeping this thread tidy so we will regularly delete posts.

You will see we are part way through our dramatic overhaul.

We are working to iron out kinks and are working on the forum formatting, unfortunately the forums are the one place that you can only change formatting on the fly.  Our designer is working on the necessary tweaks over the next few days and we will iron them out.

Dreamless,

I posted an announcement http://scrivenshafts.net/index.php/forums/viewannounce/299/ to say this board is closed as we now have a review section on the site.  Look at the top of the screen for review.

We would love people to use the rest of our shiny site.

I’ve only just realised something-

When I view a member’s public profile, their “Bio” section shows up with the words the same colour as the background (except for smileys) so I have to highlight the text in order to read it.

Attached is a screenshot of what my bio looks like in my browser (I’m using Mozilla Firefox).

BTW I still have the same old posting issue that I had long ago (the one where I usually can’t post unless I preview a post first). And the Fast Reply still doesn’t work for me.

[EDIT] Whoops I forgot to attach the screenshot! Here it is!

Nat, I use Mozilla Firefox as well, and the usual ‘Post Reply’ button works for me. Do you get an error message or anything when you try to use it?

Thanks for telling us about the Bio page. There are a few things like that which we need to get the designer to fix.

I don’t know *why* the fast reply doesn’t work - we will have to deepen our investigation (*is frustrated*).

Thanks for letting us know about all this. I appreciate it. smile

If there is a book that you want to read and it has not been written, you must write it yourself.

No, I don’t get an error message. I can click Post Reply and it takes me to the Post New Reply page without any problems.

The problem only comes in when I try to submit the post after typing it. If I directly click ‘Submit Post’, it takes me back to the Post New Reply page but the Message box will be empty and the post doesn’t appear in the thread. Somehow I found out that I have to click ‘Preview Post’ first, and then after that page loads, quickly click on ‘Submit Post’ and THEN it’ll work. (If I don’t click on ‘Submit Post’ fast enough after the ‘Preview Post’ page loads, the same problem will happen.)

Thanks for clarifying that, Nat. I won’t be able to get to it before this weekend, but I can have a look then and see if I can find what is causing this.

Just for research purposes, what version of Mozilla are you using? I have Firefox version 2.0.0.5.

Thanks, Lavender.

I’m using version 2.0.0.5 as well.

Just curious, by the way: do you have the same problem too?

No, I don’t, Nat. I can’t use ‘Fast Reply’, but the ‘Post Reply’ button works fine once I hit ‘Submit’.

Hmmmm.

I wonder if there is any chance that it could be a browser setting? Any thoughts?

It might be, though I really don’t know what setting it is.

I’m using the same version of Firefox and I don’t have that problem.  Might it be a Vista/XP thing?  Nat, I’m running Vista Premium.  What are you running for an OS?

I’m running Windows XP Home Edition, updated with Service Pack 2. I’ve been running this system for over 5 years, though I recently did a reformat (earlier this year). But I already had the problem before the format.

(I’ve also just noticed that the Thread Review doesn’t work for me. Hm.)

We need to be able to do a full upgrade to our software - which may get rid of the thread review issue.  But to do that I would need to take the site down for at least a day.  I don’t have the time this weekend, and I kind of want to keep it open as it is so soon after book 7 release.

I think it will be Mid-August, I will post days the site will be down when I will do the upgrade work.
